Oncoplastic surgery combines the removal of breast cancer with reconstructive technique, with the aim of treating the disease while considering the appearance of the breast. Whether it is suitable, and what it can achieve, depends on your individual diagnosis and will be discussed with you directly.
Dr Gault has fulfilled the training requirements set by the Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand (BreastSurgANZ) to perform oncoplastic and reconstructive procedures, and continues to maintain those skills. He has trained across the United Kingdom, Australia, Europe and the United States.
A range of breast reconstruction options can be considered. Dr Gault provides implant-based reconstruction in-house and will talk you through the choices that suit your diagnosis and your priorities. For complex flap reconstruction, he refers to a plastic surgeon, coordinating your care so nothing is decided without your understanding and agreement.
